Chris Derubeis – Father of Conceptual Movement

Chris Derubeis

Born in 1978 in Santa Clarita, California USA, as a child Chris displayed a great interest in sketching. For his 11th birthday, he received an airbrush kit that he mastered very quickly, marking the beginning of his quest for innovation. To pay for the Pasadena Art Center and the Associates in Art College, he created a business of hand-painted t-shirts and customized Harley Davidsons. When he was grinding base paint off a Harley gas tank, he discovered the metal exposed to the light unveiled amazing patterns that seemingly danced off the tank. Chris uses the term “Abstract Sensualism” to best describe his style of art. He is in some ways an alchemist by combining paint and chemicals to get the unique effects and depth on the metal base.
